This module was about finding voice. We were introduced to interactive-fiction (the new style of the old school "Choose Your Own Adventure" books, if you will, that offer the audience an engaging, non-linear way to learn). This is particularly helpful when it allows for those in our community who often do not have a voice (those who suffer domestic abuse, poverty, disabilities, etc.) to be represented and understood in a new dynamic way to an audience that wouldn't normally be introduced to them. I particularly liked the interactive-fiction called "Spent" that taught me what it is like to make minimum wage in this country: the realities of rent, food prices, and the required health insurance payments is eye-opening to the plight of those in that situation.

Other ways for those without a voice to be heard is through autobiographies, such as the one we watched about the woman growing up with cystic fibrosis and how she turned her disability into her life's goal of supporting others with disabilities. By narrating her story herself it made for a more effective story.

We practiced the power of collective voice during this module by participating in a dialog with classmates about the fascinating interactive documentary videos which educates the audience about internet/mobile phone tracking. It was an effective method of pedagogy; however, our group came to the consensus that it really won't change the way we use the internet/mobile phones because it seems a losing battle.

I created my first sketchnote project this module, focusing on the quick vacation I took to Costa Rica:

I made several Daily Creates this week, including:

My favorite interaction this module was the dialog previously linked discussing the Big Broother-esque Do Not Track videos. It was good to discuss and collaborate with fellow classmates.
